A workshop for those who identify as women and have little to no experience working with steel and fire.
Participants will learn that blacksmithing isn't about brute strength but requires finesse and patience. Students will be provided an overview of the practice including primary tools, safety precautions and creative possibilities. It is a hands-on experience focussing on fundamental techniques such as tapering, twisting, scrolling and learning how to manage a coke fired forge.
If time permits, students will complete two pieces, theirs to take home.
Minimum age for students is 18.
price: $175 / $157 (full-time student under 24)
