Last week we started to scrape to the bottom of the coke bin so Jack and I took a short trip down Dynon road in Jacks old Holden ute to the ABA coke store. We were a little worried how the old girl would handle a full load, but aside from a few new strange rattles as we returned over the bridge it all went fine. The coke had a fair amount of fines, I estimate about 10% and probably had a mean particle diameter of around 15-20mm. This is a big difference from the coke that we purchased from the Mont Delancey Blacksmithing Group, which probably has a mean particle size of 30-40mm. Having now used both, Jack and I agree that the smaller diameter coke is easier to work with in our style of forges.
